The place uses the name of Carpia in old French because hornbeams are planted. Hornbeam is a majestic tree with a slender foliage et gracile that keeps its leaves very long. It’s the tree of a balanced and rich in biodiversity place. No wonder then that Château du Carpia is so expressive and delicious.
At Château du Carpia, the surface of the vineyard is 22 ha with a density of planting of 4,000 vines per hectare. The whole vineyard is organic certified since 2009 which means that no pesticides or herbicides are used in the vineyard. Aude and Xavier Planty grow their vines with passion and in the most respecful way in order to produce healthy and highly aromatic grapes. Xavier Planty, also Directeur of Château Guiraud (classified as 1st Growth in 1855 of the Sauternes appellation) since 30 years, had it certified first at the organic wines label.
