Château Paloumey is a very ancient property in the commune of Ludon-Médoc; it was recorded in the first edition of this book in 1850.

It was classified a Cru Bourgeois supérieur in 1932. However, château Paloumey disappeared in 1954 following the phylloxera epidemic and the slump in wines due to having to pull up all the vines.

It was not until 1990 that a dynamic team led by Martine Cazeneuve decided to take over the estate and gambled on being able to

renovate it. In 1995, les Ailes de Paloumey received a Gold Medal at Concours Général d’Aquitaine for their 1992 vintage, the first of this new estate. The 1993 Château Paloumey vintage was awarded a Silver Medal at the same concours in 1996 and the 1997 vintage received a Silver Medal at Concours Général in Paris, 1999. S.A. Paloumey also runs châteaux La Bessanne (a Margaux appellation in Cantenac) and La Garricq (a Moulis appellation).

These wines are sold in the most famous restaurants (La Tour d’Argent, Alain Ducasse) and in the renowned specialized wine-shops in Paris (Fauchon, Lafayette Gourmet).
